Becoming an events and party planner is a dream job for many. It seems glamorous – you get to spend all your time at fun parties, isn’t that how it works? Well not quite. You need to be the one behind the scenes, organising the party so that other people can have a great time. It takes a lot of willpower, and a combination of skills that are not easy to come by. These are some of the most important attributes to have:

• Good organisation. You must be the kind of person who is used to planning – and preferably who enjoys it as well. A good party planner is never without a notebook and a diary.
• Patience. Your clients will not always be sure what they want, and they might change their minds a lot. Some of your busy corporate clients might also be hard to get hold of. This is all part of the job.
