Developing Contacts in the Workplace

Being successful in the workplace isn’t just about having the necessary skills required. Word of mouth and internal recommendations is also a massive factor when it comes to securing new jobs/clients. The development of contacts is vital and something that should not be put on the back burner.
Say for example you’re starting your own business, the contacts from your previous employer may be able to help you (depending on relations) and recommend your business services to prospective clients.
Alternatively, if you’re an employee looking to change jobs and then having contacts in different companies could come in very handy. If a position is available, then they may be able to recommend your services due to the trust in their referral by the employer.
